PhreakNIC is an annual convention held in Nashville, TN. Originally started
as a "hacker convention," it has since grown to include all things of interest
to the technology minded individual, such as sci-fi/fantasy, gaming, anime and
other areas of tech culture. PhreakNIC is organized by the Nashville
2600 Organization and the Nashville Linux Users
Group. There are technical presentations, cultural exhibits and panels,
as well as plenty of socializing.
Presentations and gaming begin at 11:30 AM on Friday
and end on Saturday evening (registration begins at 10 AM Friday).

Dunking Booth: Friday night during the dinner break, weather permitting, we will have a selection of volunteers from SE2600 notable people for your dunking pleasure.
Gaming: We've got consoles and table top gaming this year. LAN gaming will be setup but details have yet to be finalized.

What is PhreakNIC without some great talks?
If you are interested in giving a talk at this year's PhreakNIC get your abstract into president (at) nashville2600 (dot) org. The deadline for abstract submission will be August 1st, 2010, and we will notify the accepted speakers shortly thereafter.
Adrian Crenshaw(IronGeek) has worked in the IT industry for the last fourteen years. He runs the information security website
Irongeek.com, which specializes in videos and articles that illustrate how to use various pen-testing and security tools. He did the cert paper chase for awhile (MCSE NT 4, CNE, A+, Network+. i-Net+) but stopped once he had to start paying for it himself. He's currently working on a Masters in Security Informatics, but is interested in getting a network security/research/teaching job in acedamia.
Gene Branfield is a Tenacity Engineer involved in security testing and evaluation (ST&E). He is recognized and well respected amongst the National Security community where he regularly consults with designers and developers of high integrity platforms.
James Church is a Ph.D. candidate and graduate instructor for the Computer and Information Science Department at the University of Mississippi. His master's thesis surveyed noise filtering solutions in digital images and presented a novel algorithm that compares well with the best known approaches. His research interests include image processing, document classification, and dimension reduction. One of his more interesting side projects is being the database administrator of the University of Mississippi Marijuana Potency Monitoring program.
John McNabb, an IT Pro from the Boston area, worked for 10 years for Clean Water Action (CWA). At CWA, he spearheaded efforts to pass Extended Producer Responsibility laws in Massachusetts, helped form the National Computer Take Back Campaign, and participated in the National Electronic Product Stewardship Initiative. He also worked for 6 years as a Legislative Liason for the Massachusetts Dept. of Environmental Protection. John spoke at The Next HOPE on .Electronic Take Back. and at DEF CON 18 on .Cyberterrorism and the Security of the National Drinking Water Infrastructure..
Iridium is currently a Systems Engineer and part of a team responsible for QA for a .NET based software company in Augusta, GA.
Mathias Matthew Maximilian Kolbe Beckett Ronaldvich of the house of Blue Gormain the first (or Mog for short) comes from a long line of Irish warriors. He is a huge fsf hippie and will talk your ear off about freedom if you give him the chance. He is a long standing member of Makers Local 256 where he works on various electronics projects.
Mirovengi currently works as a netadmin for a CS department at the same university that he got his degree from. Mirovengi is a member of the Infonomicon Computer Club and can often be found idling in their FreeNode channel.
Tom Cross(Decius) works in the computer security industry. His job consists mostly of having meetings with people and filling out forms. He used to do a lot of patch reversing but he doesn't have time any more. He has spoken at Blackhat Federal, Electronic Frontier Forums, H.O.P.E., Summercon, Phreaknic, Interz0ne, and Outerz0ne. He likes beer, particularly if it is from Bavaria.
Tyler Pitchford, Esq. holds degrees in Software Architecture from New College of Florida and a Juris Doctor from the Stetson University College of Law. He co-founded the Azureus Bittorrent client in 2003 and currently works as an attorney in the state of Florida. His work experience includes the Florida State Attorney's office, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the Florida Supreme Court. Tyler has previously presented at PhreakNIC, Defcon, Outerz0ne, and Shmoocon. Additionally, he has taught several courses on computer programming and security throughout the years.
