PhreakNIC is a convention held yearly in Nashville, TN, usually during the month of October. This year, it will be the weekend of October 24-26, 2003, from approximately 10 AM Friday until 1 PM Sunday.

The convention has plenty to do: expert panels, presentations, gaming, events, contests and a large costume party on Saturday night. It is an excellent opportunity to commune with other like-minded technology enthusiasts, otherwise known as hackers. It's also a great chance to show off your latest modifications and make new friends in the community.

Cost

As the size of the convention has grown, so has the cost of putting it on. Those of us in the planning committee are volunteering our time and, in many cases, our equipment and money. PhreakNIC 6 had nearly 400 registered attendees, and many more that were not. This requires a significant amount of space, so last year we went from a donations based convention to a paid admission convention. We lost money last year, which means that the price has to increase a bit this year.

Those who book a hotel room under the group name will receive four (4) vouchers for half price admission to the convention. (Weekend Only) The way that we are able to negotiate a good price on the convention space is by bringing guests to the hotel itself, so in order to get credit for that, you need to book your room under the group code. However, many people are local and do not wish to get a hotel room, so there will also be an option for single day admission.
