PhreakNIC is an annual convention held in Nashville, TN. Originally started as a "hacker convention," it has since grown to include all things of interest to the technology minded individual. PhreakNIC is organized by the Nashville 2600 Organization and the Nashville Linux Users Group. There are technical presentations, cultural exhibits and panels, as well as plenty of socializing.

Costs
Passes are good for the entire weekend. They are $20 to non-members of Nashville 2600 (whose annual dues are currently paid). Volunteers get a refund of $10 after working their shifts. Speakers get in for free. As per tradition since PhreakNIC 6, there will be some sort of souvenir swag given out to the first 300 paid attendees.
Hotel
This year PhreakNIC is October 22-24 at the Days Inn Stadium in Nashville, TN. The room rate is $62 per night when you book under the code CG2600. We have 5 floors (130 rooms) blocked off just for us from Thursday night through Saturday night.
Art Contest!
We are running a contest for the t-shirt/program artwork this year. If you are interested in submitting your design, send it to phreaknic (at) phreaknic.info by June 30. Original media can be whatever you want, but it must be submitted in digital form. Black and white or color is fine, but the content needs to be wearable in public! The majority of those who buy the shirts want something that they can get by with wearing to work, on campus, or around town without drawing too much ire. What do you get if you win?
- $50 cash prize
- Free Admission to PhreakNIC 8
- Free T-Shirt
- SWAG (Whatever I finally decide to give to presenters)
- Credit in the program
