• ask if they are here for the con in general, or just the NLUG events; if they are just here for NLUG (this will be most of the folks who arrive Saturday morning), point them to Ballrooms B and C and make one tick mark per person on the Installfest sheet; they can have a con badge and program booklet for a ~$5 to ~$10 donation to help cover con costs.
• if they are here for the con in general, ask to see their room keys; if they don't have any, tell them they need to check in to the hotel first; if they flash their keys, get handles and room number(s) and give them one badge & booklet per room key, marking this on the Guest sheet; if anyone is paranoid, explain that the list is to make sure our count matches the hotel's on the total number of guest rooms booked so we get our full discount, and so we can also keep track of the total number of attendees, and that the list will be destroyed after the con.
• if they aren't staying at the hotel but are attending the con in general (this includes visitors from MTAC, the anime con), explain that they have full run of the con except for the bldg#3 con room; that room is secured due to the equipment inside it; if they want access to that room, they need a badge and a donation of ~$5 to ~$10 is requested to help cover con costs (they'll get a con program booklet as well); put a tick on the Visitor sheet for each person.

• The check-in sheets and examples will be on hand.
• You'll also answer general questions about the con and update the "Program Changes" whiteboard at the desk.
• Defective badges/floppies can be swapped for good ones; keep the bad ones. Additional badges & booklets are $5/set with a room key, $10 without; we'll take half for just a badge or a booklet.
• If someone with a room key is requesting badge and booklet, but they give a room number that is already occupied, (especially if they give a name or handle for that room), ask them to take someone in a STAFF shirt back to their room to verify they are staying there (ie - unlock the door, preferably have the other people in the room vouch for them). Late check-ins or people not checking in all together are fine, but I would like them verified so we don't hand out fifty badges & booklets to the same people who either keep losing their stuff or just want a bunch of free souvenirs.
• Use your discretion to refuse anyone a badge if something seems odd & call for a senior staff person (jonnyX, Allison, Maverick, etc).
• Please show up for your shift ~10 to 15 minutes early, especially if you've never done this before, so the people you are relieving can go over it with you and pass along any info, problems, etc.

• The back con room *MUST* be covered 24/7; this is where people are bringing their equipment in and out for root wars, the A/V gear is here, etc. It's an easy job. One person checks stuff in, one checks stuff out. Two tables, just inside the doorway (so nothing is crowding the hallway), set up across from each other, so anyone entering/leaving the room has to walk between the two tables.
• No one without a visible con badge is allowed inside the room. No one. This includes people with MTAC (the anime con) badges. People without con badges who wish to gain entry to the back con room should be directed to the con check-in desk in the hotel's main lobby.
• No equipment enters the room until it has been inventoried on two check-in sheets; the check-in person makes sure both lists match, puts the owner(s) name/handle on the sheets, room number if they have one, initials both sheets & puts a check-in time on them, and keeps one copy, giving the other to the owner; the check-in person also may request an ID & put a driver's licence# (for instance) on the sheets as well, if the owner is someone not well known to se2600 members and/or the check-in person.
• Nothing leaves the room until the check-out person matches the owner(s) inventory sheet with the one left at the check-in desk. The check-out person initials & timestamps both copies & keeps the con copy (saves time if someone wants to bring the same gear back in again later). The con copy will be destroyed after the con.
• Both staff persons can request to look inside bags & large purses. The owners have a right to refuse, of course, but both staff persons can then deny them entry to the con room, even if they have a con badge. Call senior staff (jonnyX, Maverick, Allison, etc.) if there is a problem.
• Two people minimum are needed for this room at all times, and a third would be nice in case someone needs to hit a restroom, grab a smoke, etc. If a group of people wanted to take an 8hr to 12hr shift, for instance, and break it up into 1hr to 2hr shifts among themselves, or if the check in and check out people want to change jobs halfway through a 4hr shift, that's fine, we just want the room covered, we don't care how exactly it's done.
• Forms and examples of how they should be filled out will be on hand. Please show up for your shift ~10 to 15 minutes early, especially if you've never done this before, so the people you are relieving can go over it with you and pass along any info, problems, etc.
